This article is devoted for candidates who took the TSHOOT exam to share their experience. Please tell us what are your materials, the way you learned, your feeling and experience after taking the TSHOOT v2.0 exam… But please DO NOT share any information about the detail of the exam or your personal information, your score, exam date and location, your email…

Your posts are warmly welcome!

Exam’s Structure:

+ Some Multiple choice & drag drop questions
+ 2 Simlets
+ 15 lab-sim Questions with the same network topology (15 troubleshooting tickets or you can call it one “big” question). Each lab-sim is called a ticket and you can solve them in any order you like.

Topics of the lab-sims:

1- IPv6
2- OSPF
3- OSPFv3
4- Frame Relay
5- GRE
6- EtherChannel
7- RIPng
8- EIGRP
9- Redistribution
10- NTP
11- NAT
12- BGP
13- HSRP
14- STP
15- DHCP

The problems are rather simple. For example wrong IP assignment, disable or enable a command, authentication…

In each tickets you will have to answer three types of questions:

+ Which device causes problem
+ Which technology is used
+ How to fix it

When you press Done to finish each case, you can’t go back.

A demo of the TSHOOT Exam can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le2/le37/le10/tshoot_demo.html

Note:

+ In the new TSHOOTv2, you cannnot use the “Abort” button anymore. Therefore you cannot check the configuration of another ticket before completing the current ticket.

+ We have gathered many questions about TSHOOT exam and posted them at TSHOOT FAQs & Tips, surely you will find useful information about the TSHOOT exam there!

Below are the topologies of the real TSHOOT exam, you are allowed to study these topologies before taking the exam. It surely saves you some invaluable time when sitting in the exam room (Thanks rrg for sharing this).

@dirtflake you should schedule TSHOOT exam ASAP, because few free timeslots remained (at least in my country) – deadline 23 Feb, and a lot of CCNP (like me) want to recertify by passing quite easy TSHOOT. I think 2 weeks is enough time to prepare

@NERO – I understand what you’re saying. I’m testing next week as well and will need to renew. I don’t want to pay the full $22, but if you think about it. Thats nothing compared to the raise you’ll get with the NP!

@maria no BGP sim gives error during exam about peer-groups.
you have to change remote-AS as sim.

new ticket the problem is in int f0/1/0 (shutdown)
i used the portfast ticket as a solution

Passed last week…fyi on one of the ASW1 issues (i think it’s Ticket 9 – Switchport Trunk), in addition to the incorrect vlan 20 on the trunk, found out that fa1/0/1 was also shutdown..had to correct my answer to include “no shut int fa1/0/1”

    Hey guys,

Passed the exam with 950+ points. Finally CCNP certified!

Every single question was identical to here, multiple choice all from NOV.

Got 24q, 12 tickets, bgp, hsrp sim.

Strange that i answered everything as same as here and was very confident id get 1000/1000 however i didnt..which leads me to believe something might be wrong here somewhere.

In the BGP sim, the config was as below:

    router bgp 64520
    bgp log-neighbor-changes
    network 172.16.0.0 mask 255.255.255.255
    neighbor IBGP peer-group
    neighbor IBGP remote-as 64550
    neighbor IBGP update-source Loopback0
    neighbor 172.16.2.2 peer-group IBGP
    neighbor 172.16.3.3 peer-group IBGP
    neighbor 209.165.227.2 remote-as 64525 —- note IP change

in the exam it states what the output of show ip bgp “should be”.
I believe that “network 172.16.0.0 mask 255.255.255.255” is wrong, i tried to remove it and enter the correct config “network 172.16.1.1 mask 255.255.255.255” but it wouldnt work. Without them changes the sh ip bgp output was identical to what they required anyway so im not sure. i got 100% in Layer tech so it must have been accepted.

I dropped some points for layer 2 technologies somewhere – ive no idea where all my answeres were identical to here.

buy preimum!!! and follow sam strategy– i learnt that strategy inside out before going though the sims about 20 times each. in the end i was doing each sim in less than 40 seconds as i knew how/where/what to look for.

good luck to everyone and thank you digitaltut/networktut/certprepare :)

    @SUN
I have a question or everyone that passed with 1xxx points.
If I remember correctly, the ping between IPv6 doesn’t work.
I remember that I used another command, and if I am correctly this command was ”sh ipv6 neighbor” in R3 and had resulted in the neighbors that give. If we had that neighbor we know that was that. I have to found my old notes.
What are your strategies for IPv6?

  26. TO
    January 13th, 2020

@GHOST – you can ping the 2026::1:2 first and if there is no reply the issue with with R2. If it is successful, then ping 2026::34:2, if it fails, the issue is with R3 and if it succeeds, then the issue is with R4.

anyone who retake the exam? did you get same tickets when you took again the test?

  29. TestTest
    January 13th, 2020

There’s only so many tickets that exist, so I’d imagine you’ll see some of the same tickets from before. MCQs could change anyday, so beware of that.
